# Fractional Usage
Fractional ownership of a property creates the need to apportion usage rights to the home in an equitable, yet useful way. To achieve this, Plano issues a utility token called UTOKEN, which conveys rights of usage to owners of properties.
UTOKENs are awarded to owners of fractional property according to a tokenomics model. UTOKENS can also be bought on a decentralized exchange. Once acquired, UTOKENs can be used to purchase usage rights to a property in the form of nights of eligible stay.
UTOKENs are fungible and so the holder of a token can exchange them for usage rights in any property that offers such rights by non-owners. It is imagined that a great many properties will offer this feature as doing so will generate income for owners.
The tokenomics and use cases of UTOKEN are designed to act as a type of loyalty token. It encourages fractional owners to stay “in network” and can be awarded to users of Plano as a form of reward or loyalty.

Loyalty tokens can interoperate with other loyalty programs such as those provided by airlines, credit cards and hotels such as Marriott Rewards, Club Premiere, or Amex Travel Benefits. A partnership may involve the interoperability of token
